The North London side dominated for much of the contest, taking a well-earned 2-0 lead by the 70th minute. Thomas Frank looked set to claim silverware in his first competitive match in charge, but PSG struck twice in the final nine minutes to force a penalty shootout.

The French champions then edged it 4-3 after Micky van de Ven and Mathys Tel missed from the spot.

While the loss was a bitter blow for Spurs fans, there were bright spots to take from the performance, chief among them being Mohammed Kudus.

The Ghanaian impressed during his time on the pitch, earning plaudits from French media for his contribution.

Foot Mercato handed Kudus a 7/10 rating, the highest for any Spurs player, praising his physical presence against PSG’s midfield and defence. They wrote:

“The Ghanaian international showcased his physical strength to trouble PSG’s midfield and defence, engaging in a thrilling battle with Portuguese full-back Nuno Mendes.
