Mohammed Kudus agonisingly missed out on writing his name into Ghana’s football history books after his Tottenham Hotspur side lost in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, August 13.
The 25-year-old played a key role for the North London club. However, it was not enough, as Paris Saint-Germain staged a dramatic comeback to break the hearts of Spurs at the Stadio Friuli in Udine.

Kudus shines, sets Ghanaian record after winning UEFA Super Cup
Kudus only joined Tottenham this summer in a £55 million move from West Ham United. His pre-season performances had already caught the eye, and under the lights in Italy, he rose to the occasion once again.
Facing the reigning UEFA Champions League winners, the Black Stars playmaker delivered a tireless and commanding display in midfield.
While he did not find the net or provide an assist, his influence was clear in the way Spurs controlled key moments of the match.

However, after he was withdrawn in the 79th minute, the game tilted in favour of PSG, who rallied from 2-0 down to level the score.
Goals from substitutes Lee Kang-In and Goncalo Ramos cancelled out Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero's earlier strikes.
While there was no extra time, PSG held their nerves to secure the title on post-match penalty shootouts, claiming a 4-3 win, per the BBC.
Tottenham’s painful defeat means Kudus failed to become the second Ghanaian to ever lift the UEFA Super Cup.
That distinction is held by none other than Villarreal's Thomas Partey, who won the trophy in 2018 with Atletico Madrid after they edged city rivals Real Madrid in extra time.
After the match, sections of Ghanaian fans, who were visibly heartbroken by the result, took aim at Tottenham’s manager, blaming him for Kudus missing out on UEFA Super Cup glory in his first-ever European competition final.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old and his Tottenham teammates would have to get over the setback against PSG as they prepare for the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
They will play host to Burnley on August 16 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. For Kudus, it was a bittersweet outing in his maiden competitive bow for the Lilywhites, as noted by The Athletic.
