Footballer Luca Aluisi has tragically died after collapsing at home in front of his mother on Wednesday, August 20.

The heartbreaking incident reportedly occurred just hours before he was set to take part in his first training session with his new club, ASD Castell'Azzara.

According to Mail Online, Aluisi had recently joined the Italian non-league side and was scheduled to begin training with the team on Wednesday, 20 August. However, he suddenly became unwell at his residence and lost consciousness.

His mother, who was visiting at the time, immediately called emergency services. Despite their efforts, paramedics were unable to revive him.

This tragic loss adds to a growing list of footballers who have passed away in 2025, including Portugul and Liverpool legend Diogo Jota and Nigeria's Peter Rufai.

ASD Castell'Azzara later released a statement confirming the news and expressing their sorrow over the untimely loss of their new player.

"We are profoundly saddened by the heartbreaking news of Luca Aluisi's passing. At just 30 years old, he was full of excitement and ready to embark on this new journey with our club."
"The entire club stands in heartfelt solidarity with Luca’s family as they mourn this sudden loss. We extend our sincerest condolences to his loved ones. With every training session, every game, and every goal, Luca’s memory will remain with us. Farewell, Luca."

Massimo Natali, president of the Marta football club, also expressed his grief, saying:

"The news is truly devastating. Luca had been part of our team since childhood, always playing with incredible passion and commitment."
