Eyewitness reveals how Semenyo was racially abused
The disturbing episode occurred around the 28th minute.
Semenyo, preparing to take a throw-in, was targeted by a 47-year-old Liverpool supporter seated pitchside in a wheelchair.
According to eyewitness @Nick___Collins, who shared details on X, the man hurled racial slurs at the striker, repeated them when confronted, and even tossed chewing gum in his direction.
Nearby fans were left appalled, with many openly condemning his behaviour.
ESPN indicates that Semenyo immediately reported the incident to referee Anthony Taylor, prompting a brief halt to the match as the official discussed the matter with both managers.

The abuser, described as a long-time Liverpool season ticket holder with a reputation for unruly behaviour, initially resisted when asked to leave.
Police eventually escorted him out of the stadium about half an hour later. Authorities have since confirmed his identity, and an investigation is ongoing.
Ironically, the man wore a “No Room for Racism” badge, a glaring contradiction to his actions that stunned many who witnessed the scene.
Calls are already growing among fans for him to receive a lifetime ban.
In the aftermath, the Premier League released a strong statement on X condemning the abuse and pledging a full investigation.
The organisers of the English top flight also promised support to Semenyo and Bournemouth, stressing that “racism has no place in our game or anywhere in society.”
Liverpool officials are said to be cooperating fully with the police.
How Semenyo responded to racial abuse
According to talkSPORT, despite the ugly incident, Semenyo rose above the abuse and delivered a remarkable performance.
He scored twice in the second half, showcasing his strength of character even as Bournemouth fell 4-2 to the defending champions.
After the match, Semenyo addressed the incident on Instagram, expressing both his frustration and pain.
He wrote alongside screenshots of abuse he also received online: “When will it stop?”
“It’s sad that in this modern era, racism still finds space in what is arguably the most-watched league in the world.
"What makes it even more shocking is that Semenyo isn’t the kind of player who provokes or gets under opponents’ skin,” Awal Mohammed Hudu of Kessben Media told YEN.com.gh.
“Still, it was inspiring to see him rise above the hate and score twice, even though Bournemouth couldn’t secure a win. One can only hope that tougher sanctions are enforced against offenders to serve as a real deterrent.”
