Despite Bayern’s dominance- 15 shots to Tottenham’s two - Thomas Frank’s side were fortunate to reach half-time trailing by only one.

The German champions maintained their dominance in the second half and were far more clinical, with Kingsley Coman, Lennart Karl, and Kusi-Asare all producing superb finishes to seal a ruthless 4-0 victory over a lacklustre Spurs side.

Who is Jonah Kusi-Asare?

Highly-rated teenager Kusi-Asare joined Bayern from AIK and had been an unused substitute six times in the 2024/25 Bundesliga before making his first-team debut late in the season.

Initially signed for the U19s, his three goals and an assist in six matches earned him a quick promotion to the reserves and then the senior squad, per Bundesliga's official website.

Before Bayern, he made history as AIK’s youngest-ever player, debuting in Sweden’s top flight just a month and 24 days after turning 16.

Ghana's Mohammed Kudus' biggest failure at Tottenham Hotspur so far

Football runs in his blood- his father, Jones Kusi-Asare, enjoyed a successful career in Sweden, Austria, and Denmark, winning league and cup titles along the way.

Why the Black Stars must invite Kusi-Asare

According to Ghanaian journalist Derrick Ayim, the Black Stars’ management should seriously consider Kusi Asare, as the team currently lacks a player with the Bayern Munich striker’s profile.

"The handlers of the national team must take a closer look at Kusi Asare,” Ayim told YEN.com.gh.
"I watched him against Tottenham, and he really proved to be a prolific goal scorer. I was so impressed. He's young, agile, hardworking and a good dribbler."
“Right now, we don’t have anyone in the squad with his kind of qualities, and that’s a gap that needs to be filled.”

How did Kudus fare against Bayern?

Tottenham’s Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus played the full 90 minutes but struggled to influence proceedings as Bayern dominated possession and dictated the tempo.

Kudus, who had made four appearances in pre-season, was playing his first 90-minute match for Tottenham, having previously featured in shorter spells.

Despite the lengthy run, the former West Ham star was unable to break the deadlock or create any significant chances that would’ve troubled Bayern’s solid defence.

The result extends Bayern’s unbeaten record against Spurs to six matches, with five wins and one draw. Bayern next face Grasshoppers on August 12, while Tottenham prepare for PSG in the UEFA Super Cup.

Dan Owusu backs Kudus to shine
