Daniel Adu-Adjei snubs England for Ghana

"I'd love to play for Ghana. Both my parents were born and raised there. It would be an honour to represent the country they come from," he told Ghanasoccernet.

He is yet to feature for England at any level, making his switch relatively easier. More importantly, Adu-Adjei has quietly caught the attention of the Ghana Football Association, which is reportedly monitoring his growth.

"My dad showed me his highlights. I've watched how good he was, such a powerful striker," he said, speaking of Ghanaian legend Tony Yeboah.

That admiration didn’t stop in the past. Today, he draws inspiration from someone much closer, Bournemouth teammate Antoine Semenyo.

"It's been great watching Antoine represent Ghana. Seeing how well he's doing for the national team inspires me even more," he added.

In an era where many players choose based on convenience or opportunity, Adu-Adjei is leaning into legacy.

If Adu-Adjei’s journey leads him to the Black Stars, he’ll join a growing list of English-born players who chose to play for Ghana.

Names like Kwesi Appiah, Antoine Semenyo, and Tariq Lamptey have all walked that path in recent years.

And for Adu-Adjei, this decision isn’t about turning his back on where he was born. It’s about embracing where he comes from. His heart beats to the rhythm of Ghana.

Adu-Adjei scores first senior goal for Bournemouth

The timing of his announcement couldn’t be better. Adu-Adjei recently bagged his first senior goal for Bournemouth in a 3-0 win against Everton during the Premier League Summer Series in the United States.

According to Flashscore, the youngster scored an impressive 25 goals in 15 appearances for Bournemouth's Under-21 side.

“This is great news for the Black Stars, especially since we’re yet to find a proper replacement for Asamoah Gyan. That said, I believe he still needs time to develop. Ideally, he should go through the junior national teams before making the step up to the senior squad,” Awal Mohammed Hudu of Kessben Media told YEN.com.gh.
