In mid-June, 32 clubs set off on a quest for glory, with the ultimate prize being FIFA’s brand-new Club World Cup trophy.

Unlike the previous format, the revamped competition is now held every four years and features more teams vying for the prestigious title.

The new trophy itself is full of flair, complete with a key that unlocks it, and was proudly unveiled by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to U.S. President Donald Trump.

But the trophy isn’t the only prize; FIFA allocated over $1 billion in total prize money for the tournament.

The field has narrowed from 32 to 16, then to 8, 4, and now just two clubs remain: Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, who will battle for the crown in Sunday’s final in New York.

Chelsea beat PSG to win Club Word Cup

Cole Palmer was the star of the show, finding the net twice in the first half with two well-taken goals that left the French champions rattled.

The 22-year-old wasn’t done just yet; he turned provider for new signing João Pedro, who calmly slotted home Chelsea’s third before halftime.

Despite a more competitive second period, the scoreline stayed the same, thanks to excellent goalkeeping from Robert Sánchez and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Al Ahly has set an undesirable record at the FIFA Club World Cup in their opening match against Inter Miami on June 14.

The Egyptian and African giants held Lione Messi's side to a frustrating 0-0 stalemate at the Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, as Messi failed to deliver any magic for his MLS side.
