The solemn service was held at the Christ the King Catholic Parish in Accra in honour of the late Defence Minister and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala after their funeral service on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Many important personalities, including businessman Ibrahim Mahama, First Lady Lordina Mahama, and Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, were present at the Thanksgiving service.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the families of Dr Omane Boamah and Squadron Leader Anala were also in attendance for the solemn church event.

Mahama consoles Omane Boamah's children at event

At the Thanksgiving service at the Christ the King Catholic Parish, President Mahama, Lordina Mahama, and Vice President Opoku Agyemang were seen commiserating with the family of the late Sergeant Anala, including his widow, Ursula.

In a video, the president and his entourage later engaged with Dr Omane Boamah's wife, Rita, and children, Akua, Yaw, and Ama, as they sat in the front row inside the church.

President John Mahama consoled the three children, who were overcome with emotions as they stood with their mother and grandmother.

He also offered words of comfort to them before leaving the church with his security detail, who escorted him and his wife out of the premises.

Omane Boamah's burial after the helicopter crash

Dr Omane Boamah and five other victims of the helicopter crash were laid to rest at the military cemetery in Accra on Friday, August 15, 2025, after a state funeral was held for them at the Black Stars Square.

Two victims, Environment Minister Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed and acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, who were Muslims, had earlier been buried at the same cemetery on August 10.

Dr Omane Boamah and the seven other victims, including three Ghana Armed Forces personnel, tragically lost their lives when their helicopter crashed at the Sikaman Forest in the Adansi South District near Obuasi on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

The delegation was en route to Obuasi for the official launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) when the tragedy occurred.

Dr Omane Boamah was supposed to represent President Mahama at the event after the latter withdrew from the program at the last minute.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Stan Dogbe had scolded a blogger for recording Vice-President Opoku-Agyemang at the thanksgiving service on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

In a video, the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations fumed and lost his cool with the individual for what he perceived as breaching the senior politician's security protocol.
