Ghana Helicopter Crash: Dr Bawumia Pays Heartfelt Visit to President John Mahama

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President in the Akufo-Addo government, paid a visit to President John Mahama at his private residence to mourn with him following the death of eight individuals in the helicopter crash.

The 2024 flagbearer of the NPP visited to show solidarity and statesmanship on Saturday, August 9, 2025, to offer his condolences following the tragic helicopter crash that occurred at Adansi Obuasi.

In a video on X, Dr Bawumia was escorted to President Mahama’s residence by top NPP officials, including former Interior Minister, Henry Quartey; former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah; Akosua Manu, MP for Gushegu; Sulemana Tampuli Alhassan Gushegu, among others.

On Friday, August 8, 2025, Dr Bawumia visited the Jubilee House to lay flowers in honour of the fallen heroes. He was received by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, and other presidential staffers.

In a Facebook post, Dr Bawumia added that he visited Dr Omane Boamah's family.

"I paid a visit to the President, H. E. John Dramani Mahama, at his residence, to express my deepest condolences to him, as the nation mourns the loss of our compatriots. I also visited the family of the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah to console them. May God, the Almighty, comfort the bereaved families."
