Metro TV's Annie Ampofo Appointed Head of Public Affairs at Ghana High Commission in UK

Annie Ampofo, a well-known broadcast journalist with Metro TV, has reportedly been appointed as the Head of Public Affairs and Information at the Ghana High Commission in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

This was disclosed on X by Akosua Manu, the former Deputy CEO of the National Youth Authority of Ghana and a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

As the new Head of Public Affairs, Annie will be responsible for managing the public image of the Ghana High Commission, handling media relations, and promoting Ghanaian culture and interests in the UK and Ireland.

Annie has many years of experience in the Ghanaian media landscape. She is the host and producer of Metro TV's popular shows "Good Morning Ghana" and "Good Afternoon Ghana."

Her appointment as Head of Public Affairs marks a new chapter in her career, leveraging her expertise in communication and public affairs to serve her country in a diplomatic capacity.

Her experience in handling high-profile TV shows will undoubtedly serve her well in her new role, where she will be expected to engage with diverse stakeholders, including the media, government officials, and the Ghanaian diaspora in the UK and Ireland.

Mahama also appointed Sabah Zita Benson as Ghana's High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom and Ireland.

This appointment, made in May 2025, marked a historic milestone in her life, as she became the first female High Commissioner to serve at the Ghana High Commission in London.

She previously served as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic from 2014 to 2016, concurrently accredited to Slovakia, Hungary, Macedonia, and Romania.

Her tenure revitalised Ghana’s bilateral relations with several countries.

In 2009, at the age of 33, she made history by becoming the youngest woman ever appointed as a Minister of State in Ghana.

Bridget Otoo appointed as Presidential Staffer

In a related development, YEN.com.gh reported earlier that Ghanaian media personality Bridget Otoo was appointed as a staffer in the Office of the President.

The University of Ghana graduate had not confirmed the news on her official social media pages.

However, many had already congratulated the outspoken news anchor on her rumoured appointment.
