A mass vigil was held for the late Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, and Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala at the Christ the King Church in Accra on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Many top political figures, including Communications Minister Sam George, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Special aide to President John Dramani Mahama Joyce Bawa Mogtari, GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi, and Assin South MP Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, attended the church event.
NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi and Interior Minister Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka also appeared at the mass vigil.

Omane Boamah's children attend his mass vigil
The three children of the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Akua, Ama, and Yaw, were also in attendance at the mass vigil at the Christ the King Church.
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, the late Minister's two daughters and son looked sad as they sat in the front row in church with their mother, Rita Omane Boamah, and grandmother.
The children of the late Dr Edward Omane Boamah sat on their seats silently observing the mass vigil proceedings.
Akua, Ama, and Yaw's appearance at the church event marked their first public sighting since their father's untimely passing.
Not much is known about the children, whom Dr Edward Omane Boamah kept out of the public spotlight throughout his life in the Ghanaian political circles.

Omane Boamah, others die in helicopter crash
Prophet Roja's remarks come days after Dr Omane Boamah and seven other individuals tragically passed away in a helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Aside from the Defence Minister, the other victims of the aviation tragedy were the Minister of Environment, Science, and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, the Deputy National Security Coordinator, Limuna Muniru, the former Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Samuel Sarpong, and the former NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, Samuel Aboagye.
Three members of the Ghana Armed Forces, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, also perished in the helicopter.
The victims were travelling to Obuasi for an anti-Galamsey event when their Z-9 helicopter crashed into a forest.
Following the incident, Alhaji Muniru Limuna and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed were buried in the Military Cemetery after Muslim Jannaza prayers at the Forecourt of the State House.

In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, Nana Kwame Bediako mourned with Dr Edward Omane Boamah's family days after his demise in the helicopter crash.
In a video, the businessman-turned-politician presented the late Defence Minister's mother with a thoughtful gift and extended his deep condolences.
