YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) was allegedly assaulted, on August 17, 2025, by activist Ralph St. Williams and his associates during a confrontation in the Emergency Department.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from perceived delays in patient care, escalating into verbal abuse and physical assault.
Many Ghanaians reacted by connecting the assault to alleged political involvement on account of the activist being a well-known National Democratic Congress (NDC) member.

She said that the focus should be on the systemic medical negligence in Ghanaian hospitals instead of the sideshows.
Different view on Ridge Hospital assault incident
In a video shared online, the health worker recounted a deeply personal account of the tragic death of her father at a teaching hospital.
She claimed that her father allegedly passed away due to negligence. She argued that such systemic issues within the healthcare sector are often overlooked in favour of sensationalising isolated incidents.

She also referenced a 2019 case where Ridge Hospital was ordered to pay GH₵3million in compensation after a pregnant woman's death due to the same medical negligence.
While the woman did not condone the assault on the nurse, she voiced scepticism about certain aspects of the nurse's account.

She questioned why there was no resistance to the alleged assault and called for the CCTV footage to be reviewed for a clearer understanding of what transpired.
In her words:
If Ralph has done something wrong, he needs to face the law. That's it. But if we watch the footage and he did nothing wrong, it means he was being a good citizen. Let’s not bring politics into it.
