Health Minister reflects on handshake with Ralph

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has responded to critics regarding his decision to shake hands with Ralph St. William, the individual accused of assaulting a nurse at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital.

Setting the record straight during a press conference on Thursday, 21st August, Akandoh explained that the handshake was not an endorsement of the unfortunate incident that occurred at the hospital.

A committee has already been formed to investigate the incident, with the minister vowing to ensure that anyone found to have violated the law will be held accountable.

Social media users who thronged the comment section of the video have shared varied opinions on the comments made by Ralph.

Jagbley Abbey wrote:

"Ralph De FellowGhanaian, what exactly was the communication at that time? Why release a CCTV for evidence and have it muted? Until I listen to the type of language being used behind, I think I can come out with my comments as well. REMEMBER, GOOD COMMUNICATION IS KEY... AND LACK OF GOOD COMMUNICATION TRIGGERED THIS MESS."

Julie Belinda Obiri stated:

"The Minister of Health should start visiting all the hospitals in the country. What is happening is very sad. If we start telling our story..."

Kojo Annan added:

"You are celebrating what exactly? They were obviously taking care of other patients and you were being unruly. Or do you think only your life and that of your friends are important? The fact that you even grabbed her should have gotten you arrested. Shameful behavior on your part."
