Nigerian skit maker and content creator Carter Efe has stirred mixed reactions from Ghanaians after making a controversial remark about the country.

While streaming live with his followers, the comedian commented on Ghana’s rural landscape, claiming that the nation's development stalled many years ago, with no signs of advancement in sight.

His statement came after some Ghanaians mocked his manner of speech in the comment section during the live stream, which appeared to trigger his response.

Carter Efe explained that the first time he visited Ghana, he noticed the country looked as though it had not progressed since 2002.

He further stated that Ghana was not a place he would consider moving to permanently, except for vacations.

In his words:

"Ghana eh... I no fit stay for Ghana, oh. The only time I fit stay na for vacation. Ghana still resembles 2002. I swear."

Carter Efe's statement about Ghana stirs reactions

His statement triggered backlash from locals, who criticised him for bashing Ghana.

However, some agreed with him, asserting that Ghana would have been developed like Dubai if its natural resources, such as gold and oil were exploited constructively and the proceeds invested wisely.
