Residents of Kwahu Obomeng, where Dr Omane Boamah hails from, are set to organise a vigil for the late Ghanaian Defence Minister.

A video sighted by YEN.com.gh showed residents erecting a stage as they prepared to honour the memory of their late kinsman.

In a video, a native of Kwahu Obomeng shared how the community had been deeply affected by the passing of Omane Boamah.

"The people of Kwahu have lost a gem. We are deeply hurt. This is the first time a man from our side has been honoured but God knows best. May his soul rest in peace," the resident said in the clip.

The vigil for the late minister is set to take place at Adom Park in Obomeng on August 11, 2025. A time has not been announced.

Ghanaians mourn eight in GAF helicopter crash

Ghanaians are still mourning the passing of eight people who perished in the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash.

They were on their way to an event targeted at illegal mining when the tragedy happened on August 6, 2025.

Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah and Environment Minister, Dr Murtala Muhammed, all died in the crash.
