It was a heartwrenching scene when Ghana's first lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama, and her children arrived for Day 2 of the ongoing three-day national mourning in honour of the recent helicopter victims.
Scenes from the Jubilee House, as Farida Mahama consoled her mother, have popped up online.

The First Lady cried profusely when it was her turn to lay the wreaths in memory of the eight lives that perished in the tragic accident which happened on August 6 in the Ashanti region.

Flanked by her children, including Farida and Sharaf, and other top government officers, including Julius Debrah, the First Lady was able to pull through the emotional moment.
Farida occasionally whispered what is believed to be words of encouragement to her mother and patted her back during the painful moment.
Meanwhile, the president was at the wreath-laying site a day before, evoking similar emotions as the nation navigates the tragic loss of eight Ghanaians in the military helicopter crash.
There were three military officers and five government officials. President John Dramani Mahama, in his speech after the national tragedy, described it as a personal loss.
The fatalities included Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment, Science & Technology, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr. Samuel Sarpong (Vice Chairman of the NDC), and Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate.
