Reports indicate that the MP hopeful was a man of the grassroots.
He donated GH¢180,000 to support victims of violent clashes between AngloGold Ashanti and illegal miners in early 2025.
In March 2024, he provided GH¢25,000 to victims of a devastating fire at the Boete timber market.
Aboagye was aboard the Ghana Armed Forces Z‑9 helicopter en route to Obuasi for the launching of the responsible cooperative mining and skills development programme when the tragedy occurred.
President John Dramani Mahama was billed to be the event's special guest, but sent his Minister for Defence in his stead.
All eight people aboard the flight died on the spot. Their remains were retrieved from the crash site hours later.
