2025 WASSCE: Jinijini SHS Students Shave ‘Sakora’ on Pastor’s Spiritual Instructions to Pass Exams

Two male final-year students of Jinijini Senior High School, Bono region, are said to have received divine words for their pastor to shave their heads before an examination.

YEN.com.gh reports that the two students of the school located in the Berekum West District of the Bono region decided to follow their pastor's divine instructions ahead of their 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to reports, a pastor told the two students to shave off the hair on their heads. This is a practice the locals in Ghana call 'Sakora.'
The two final-year Visual Arts students, by faith, complied with the supposed man of God's directive and instructions. They hope that by doing this, they will pass all their papers, just as the pastor has said.
One of the students, identified as Emmanuel, believes in the pastor's direction, and he is sure he will come out with flying colours in the examination.

He expressed confidence, while attributing his future success to complying with the spiritual directive.
In his words:
“As a final-year student, I’ve shaved my head following my pastor’s direction to pass my exams. Insha Allah, I’ll succeed. We’re combining spiritual guidance with our teachers’ instructions, and I’m confident we’ll pass.”
Meanwhile, Dorcas Owusuaa Otu, the Itinerary Examiner for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), who was assigned to observe the Ceramics and Jewellery practicals taken on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, shared that the process had been successful so far.
She shared her optimism concerning the success of the examinations.
Also, Henrietta Asuman, the Headmistress of Jinijini SHS, said she was confident and assured that her students would perform excellently in the exam, given the preparations they received before the exercise.
Deputy Education Minister warns teachers against malpractice
Meanwhile, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, the Deputy Education Minister, recently warned against aiding students to cheat during or before the 2025 WASSCE.
The minister stressed that those who are caught, including teaching and non-teaching staff, will face legal consequences.
In a statement on August 5, 2025, he explained the importance of upholding exam integrity and called on all stakeholders, including the Ghana Education Service, WAEC, and security agencies, to work together to prevent malpractice.
Dr Apaak urged the public to report any suspicious activities and assured that the Ministry would not cover for anyone involved in cheating.
He also encouraged students to remain focused and confident as they sit for the exams.
WAEC shares areas considered as cheating hotspots

The council has called for stricter oversight and collaboration among educational stakeholders.
