Given the advanced medical resources available in hospitals abroad, it was expected that Daddy Lumba would undergo his spine surgery outside Ghana. However, he chose to have the procedure done at a hospital in Ghana instead.

After many years, Juaben Fosu has finally explained why the Ghanaian music legend made that decision.

He noted that the famous musician had some fear of whites and did not trust foreigners due to some previous events. This prevented him from having his surgery abroad.

"Daddy Lumba has been unwell for over 15 years. He had an accident, and because he was young and performing (music), he didn't pay attention to it. So he later had side effects. Mama Acheampong took care of him during this period," he said.
"He later had surgery in Ghana, and a team of foreign doctors performed the surgery. The reason he didn't perform the surgery in Ghana was that he didn't trust foreigners," he added.
