Kinbu SHS Student Passes Away, Family Fumes as School Authorities Attend His Burial

Some relatives of a first-year Kinbu SHS student who was killed on campus were outraged during the burial of the young man.
The 15-year-old was laid to rest on August 5, 2025. A burial service attended by the deceased's family, friends, and loved ones was held at the Town Council Line Park in Accra.

School authorities were reportedly not welcome at the event. According to reports, some angry relatives nearly sacked the team from the school.
In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, a young man questioned what the authorities wanted at the premises.
He argued that the school had a responsibility to protect the young boy, but failed to do so and did not deserve to be at his burial.
Kinbu SHS passes away after a melee with a classmate
A student of the Kinbu Senior High and Technical School (SHS) lost his life in an altercation with a fellow student.
Addib Alhassan, a 15-year-old first-year student, was said to have been fatally stabbed during a brawl with his classmate.

It is unclear what caused the melee; however, reports indicate that the young man was rushed to the Adabraka polyclinic, where he was transferred to the Ridge Hospital due to the seriousness of the injury. Unfortunately, the young man did not survive the incident and passed away at the facility.

The passing of the young man has broken the hearts of his family. His family stormed the school premises and demanded justice for their beloved relative.
Many called on the Ghana Education Service and the Ghana Police Service to act swiftly on the matter and ensure that justice is served.
Another concerned group called for the immediate closure of the school and urged the government to ban it due to the frequency of such occurrences.

Counsellor says family's grief is understandable
Speaking exclusively to YEN.com.gh, a Ghanaian counsellor, Seyram Avortri, gave insights into the reaction of the young man's relatives.
While acknowledging that their action was understandable, he urged them to seek counselling services.
"The family's distress and distrust are understandable. They not only mourn the loss of a child but also feel a breach of protection from those entrusted with his safety. However, I encourage the family to express their emotions in counselling sessions, grief support groups, or through restorative circles involving trusted community or faith leaders. I am here; they can reach out," he said."

Ghanaian student passes away in Canada
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that a Ghanaian family mourned the loss of their daughter, who recently relocated abroad to study.
The young woman, Juliana Agyei-Mensah, passed away about six months after settling in Canada to further her education abroad.
News about her passing has not only broken the hearts of her relative but also netizens who shared their views in the comments.
