A Ghanaian woman has stirred reactions on social media after displaying cans of Tasty Tom tinned tomato paste that had allegedly gone bad.

Taking to her TikTok page, the woman with the username @yaapomaa shared a video showing how the tomato paste inside the sealed tins had allegedly developed an unappealing appearance and colour change.
She narrated how she went to the market to get some tomato paste in a tin, but sadly, upon opening the product, she discovered more than half had gone rancid.

Many of the products had mould and a noticeable change in colour from the usual bright red to a dark, unappetising appearance.

The surprising looks of the spoilt product, despite being sealed, have stirred public concern about the safety of canned foods sold on the local market.
She captioned her video:
"These are sealed tomato pastes from Tasty Tom but when each is opened up, you’ll see mould in them. Some of them have changed in colour from the usual red to dark."
