A touching moment recently unfolded on a busy street in Accra when a head porter, popularly known as kayayei, accidentally spilled a kenkey seller’s okra soup.

In the video spotted by YEN.com.gh, the incident sparked a brief standoff that ended in kindness from a total stranger.

According to eyewitnesses, the middle-aged Kayayei was walking past the food vendor's stand when she mistakenly brushed against a table, causing a bowl of okra soup to spill.

In the clip, the kenkey seller was visibly upset and demanded that the porter pay for the entire meal, including the spilled soup.

This made the Kayayei distressed because of her inability to settle the payment. The confrontation quickly attracted the attention of passersby.

While some looked on in silence, others attempted to mediate.

The Kayayei, who appeared overwhelmed and unable to afford the amount being asked by the Kenkey vendor, was close to tears.

Just when tensions seemed to be escalating, a kind-hearted woman stepped in and diffused the situation.

The unnamed woman, who was wearing a black and white spotted dress, offered to pay a substantial portion of the amount on behalf of the porter.

The atmosphere instantly changed. Her generous gesture drew praise from bystanders, many of whom commended her for her empathy and quick thinking.

Market woman cries out over economic hardship

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that an Ahafo Goaso market woman lamented the economic hardship she and her colleagues are experiencing under the Mahama-led administration.
