Counsellor speaks on why fan may have passed away

In an exclusive interview with YEN.com.gh, a Ghanaian counsellor, Seyram Avortri, explained why the fan may have lost his life after learning about the loss of his beloved singer.

"Fans often develop what we call ‘parasocial bonds’, that is a deep emotional connection with public figures like musicians, even without direct interaction. When an artist passes away, especially one who has provided years of emotional support through their music, like we know Lumba has, the grief can be intense and very real," he said.
"In some cases, the emotional shock may manifest in physical illness or severe distress, particularly if the artist played a central role in the person’s identity or healing journey. This kind of grief should be taken seriously. Support systems like the family and friends can play a vital role in helping fans healthily process their loss. Also, counselling services should be considered for such persons," he added.
