The burial service of the late politician Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker was held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra on Friday, August 1, 2025.

Many important dignitaries, including President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and renowned businessman Ibrahim Mahama, attended the service.
Prominent National Democratic Congress (NDC) figures like the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo Akweley, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, and the Ablekuma South MP, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, also attended the burial service to mourn with the late Ade-Coker's family.
Others, like the Special Aide to the President Joyce Bawah Mogtari, General Secretary of the NDC Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, Director of Security Operations at the Presidency Rtd. COP Nathan Kofi Boakye, Minister of Sports Kofi Iddi Adams, and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, were also present.
Ade-Coker's family mourns at burial service
In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, Joseph Ade-Coker's family, including his widow, children, and grandchildren, were spotted bidding farewell to their beloved at the burial service.

In the video, the family were distraught and shed uncontrollable tears as they filed past the open casket, which showed the former NDC Greater Accra Regional Chairman's mortal remains, during the burial service.
Ade-Coker's family, who were in all-black outfits, later greeted President John Dramani Mahama before going to sit and observe the rest of the burial service.
The late politician's widow and son, Jody Ade-Coker, also shared an emotional tribute, recounting some of their special moments together.
The footage of his family weeping near his casket evoked sad reactions from Ghanaians on social media.

Joseph Ade-Coker's death and legacy
Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker passed away after a short illness at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, Accra, on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
His death evoked sadness among prominent figures in the Ghanaian political space, who mourned him with glowing eulogies on social media.
The controversial politician served as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for three consecutive terms before being unseated by Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore in 2022.
Aside from his politics, Joseph Kobina Ade-Coker also gained prominence as a respected football administrator of the Accra-based team, Great Olympics.
He also served as the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) during Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula's tenure. He later ran for the main GFA president role but lost to Kwesi Nyantakyi in the 2005 elections.
