A woman from Asante-Akyem Obogu is grieving the loss of six relatives in a tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 16 people from the Obogu Saviour Church.

In a heartfelt video spotted online, a woman in Asante-Akyem Obogu reportedly lost six members of her family in the gory accident on the notorious road.

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the incident occurred at around 2:30 PM on Monday, July 28, 2025 along the Juaso section of the Accra–Kumasi highway.

It was reported that a Ford Transit minibus transporting the youth collided head-on with a fuel tanker.

Eyewitnesses said the tanker driver lost control while overtaking another vehicle. The impact of the collision wrecked the bus completely, taking the lives of its passengers.

Lady mourns family's death in Obogu accident

The woman wept bitterly as she mentioned each member of her family she lost in the devastating accident.

According to her, she lost multiple family members, including her sister Louisa, her husband's last-born, and her own child, while other relatives have also experienced the heartbreaking loss of their children.

In her words:

"My husband, Atta, his last-born is Tawiah, and he has lost a child. My husband's last-born has also lost a child. My last-born has lost her child. One of my husband's siblings has also lost two children, and my only sister, Louisa, has also passed."

Increase in Ghana road crashes in 2025

YEN.com.gh also previously reported that road crashes had increased year on year in 2025, according to the National Road Safety Authority.

Ghana recorded 7,289 road crashes and 1,504 fatalities between January and June this year, compared to 1,237 deaths in the first half of 2024.

According to the data, 12,354 vehicles were involved in crashes, which resulted in 8,300 non-fatal casualties, with a further 1,301 pedestrians involved.
