In an emotional video, the widow wept bitterly as she recalled the promise Daddy Lumba had made to her and the unfulfilled dream that meant so much to him.

She noted that Daddy Lumba badly wanted to see his last son's Basic Education and Certificate Exam (BECE) results.

Daddy Lumba passes away

The legendary musician passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, breaking many hearts. The musician reportedly died at the Bank Hospital after a brief illness.

Scores of Ghanaians thronged the late musician's residence to commiserate with his family. Lumba's children, who also live abroad, have touched down to mourn their late father.

During a gathering to introduce the late musician's children, Odo Broni burst into uncontrollable tears and unpacked the late musician's wish.

She unveiled that Daddy Lumba deeply wished to see his son’s BECE results and had promised to do everything within his power to stay alive and witness the moment. Sadly, his passing made that impossible.

"He promised to stay and witness Junior's BECE result, but he didn't," the grieving widow said in a video.

Chairman Wontumi consoles Odo Broni

The NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi, visited Daddy Lumba’s residence to sympathise with the musician's family.

A video, which has left many heartbroken, shows his encounter with Odo Broni, Daddy Lumba's widow.

Odo Broni was heard sobbing after she granted Chairman Wontumi a private audience.

Wontumi, who was visibly moved by the actions of the grieving widow, shared words of encouragement with her.

Ghanaian media personality, Sokoohemaa, was also granted a private audience with Odo Broni when she, too, visited to sympathise with the grieving family.

She presented flowers to Odo Broni as a show of sympathy, respect, and support to the young widow in her time of difficulty.

Sokoohemaa then shared words of encouragement with the grieving widow and opened up about their last encounter.

The head of Daddy Lumba's family has apologised for certain comments he made about Odo Broni when news of the musician’s death first reached him.

Kofi Owusu, in an interview with Kontonkyie TV, explained in a surprising twist that Odo Broni had followed traditional customs in informing him of her husband's passing.
