Controversial Ghanaian social media activist Ralph St Williams was reportedly involved in an incident with some angry New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in front of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) headquarters.

According to reports, the Fix the Country convener was confronted by the party sympathisers who expressed their disapproval of him being at the premises to witness the situation surrounding the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Chairman Wontumi's arrest and detention.

In a video shared by blogger Gossip24TV, the activist was reportedly hidden in a vehicle by some policemen as the angry supporters approached to vent out their frustrations and call for him to be sacked from the area.

The NPP supporters berated and hooted after the police car later left the entrance of the EOCO office with Ralph St Williams reportedly inside for his safety.

The incident marked the Fix The Country convener's latest encounter with angry NPP supporters. In March 2025, he found himself in a heated moment with some party folks during former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's visit to the Adum PZ Market in the Ashanti Region after the fire incident.

The NPP presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections had visited the market to commiserate with the victims of the fire incident and donate 1,000 bags of cement and a cash amount of GH¢200,000 to help with their rebuilding efforts.

The visit was marred when a heated argument ensued between Ralph St Williams and the NPP supporters, who confronted him for allegedly taking photos of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia without permission for malicious reasons.

Minority storms EOCO to demand Wontumi's release

Apart from Ralph St Williams and the NPP supporters, the Minority also stormed the EOCO headquarters on Thursday, May 29, 2025, to protest Chairman Wontumi's arrest and demand his immediate release after three days in their custody.

The NPP parliamentarians had earlier marched from the Parliament House to stage a sit-in outside the headquarters building. They also threatened to boycott proceedings in the legislative chamber for a while if Chairman Wontumi was not released from EOCO's custody.

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin led the protest, delivering a strongly worded address on the floor of the House and criticised the bail conditions set for the NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman.

In another story reported by YEN.com.gh, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah expressed disappointment with their NDC colleagues in parliament for mocking the NPP MPs for protesting Chairman Wontumi's arrest.

In an interview, the Ofoase Ayirebi MP accused the NDC government of using the legal system to go after their political opponents.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah also warned the NDC parliamentarians against mocking the NPP MPs, stating that power could shift in the next elections.
