Two prominent media personalities with Media General have reacted to the pushing of a TV3 microphone at an NPP press conference.

The incident happened on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, and drew various reactions from the general public.

A video that surfaced on social media after the NPP press conference showed the party's third National Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, pushing down TV3's microphone after spotting it among the microphones lined up in front of NPP executives.

Some party executives, including Hon Afenyo Markin, Nana B and Justin Kodua, looked confused, while others laughed at the incident. However, the Media General staff are unhappy about the incident.

Johnny Hughes and Captain Smart have addressed the issue. In two separate videos, the two were displeased and did not mince their words in condemning the act.

TV3 boycotts Media General

Earlier this year, the New Patriotic Party boycotted Media General. They accused TV3 of biased reporting and unfair treatment against members of the party who show up as panellists on respective TV3 shows.

In an interview with Chairman Masawudu, he boldly admitted that he pushed the TV3 microphone as a result.

While Johnny Hughes stated that the pushing of the microphone was a deliberate act, planned by the NPP executives, Captain Smart condemned the party, which once championed press freedom, for such a move at their event.

TV3 reports NPP Executive to the police

Earlier, YEN.com.gh TV3's management reported the NPP's 3rd National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, to the police.

The complaint alleges that Masawudu threatened the station's journalists after knocking its microphone to the ground.
