Shatta Wale: Man Named by EOCO in Lamborghini Seizure Saga Jailed in US Over $4m Fraud

Nana Kwabena Amuah, the man named in the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) statement on the seizure of a Lamborghini owned by Shatta Wale, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in the US.
Amuah was jailed for his role in a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme.

On August 5, the 2019 Lamborghini Urus was seized from Shatta Wale in connection with financial crimes committed by Amuah.
The FBI asked the Ghanaian government to help recover items related to the case.
Amuah was described by US prosecutors as the leader of a criminal conspiracy.
He was sentenced in October 2023 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering following the theft of nearly $4 million from the city of Lexington, Kentucky, among others.
Details of Nana Kwabena Amuah's crimes
According to US court records, Amuah and his gang impersonated vendors to defraud nearly 70 public and private organisations across the US.
This entailed tricking entities into wiring money into bank accounts controlled by the group.
In one instance, they convinced officials from the city of Lexington to wire housing assistance funds meant for a local non-profit into a fraudulent bank account.
Amuah was remorseful during his trial and admitted that his actions were selfish.
In addition to jail time, he has also been ordered to pay over $4.7 million in restitution to victims of the fraud.
Shatta Wale's reaction to EOCO seizure
Meanwhile, Shatta Wale accused the EOCO of harassment after the office reportedly sent armed personnel to his premises.
In a series of Facebook posts, he singled out Raymond Archer, the acting Executive Director of the EOCO, for criticism.
The EOCO claimed that Shatta Wale begged the officers carrying out the seizure of his luxury vehicle to show him mercy.

According to the office, Shatta Wale said if his supporters and fans saw the car being taken away from him, they would no longer hold him in high esteem.
The search at his home in Trassaco Valley Phase 1, Accra, where the Lamborghini was seized, was conducted in June 2025, after a request from the FBI in 2023.
Kofi Boat ordered to prepare for extradition
YEN.com.gh also previously reported that the Accra Magistrate Court granted Kofi Boat a 10-day grace period to gather necessary documents ahead of his impending extradition to the US.
The court decided the business mogul's most recent appearance in court on June 26, 2025. His lawyers reportedly requested 14 days to compile all the necessary documents for the hearing date.
Kofi Boat will remain in custody at the National Investigations Bureau, with his wife assisting with the gathering of business documents he and his lawyers would need for his defence in the case.
