Police Foil Suspected Assassination Attempt at Tema General Hospital

Police in Tema stopped a killing at the Tema General Hospital after a gunman was purportedly prevented from finishing off persons he had wounded earlier at Ashaiman Tulaku.

The incident, which occurred on July 24, saw the attacker drop an assault rifle when fleeing from police.

The Chronicle reported that the chain of events started on the evening of July 23, when a gunman opened fire on some men at Ashaiman Tulaku, killing one and injuring three.

The paper said a source at the Tema Regional Police Command identified the victims as Ibrahim Mumuni, Shehu Wuni and Majeed Mohammed.

The assailant, during his escape, was spotted and trailed by the person he felt could identify him.

The attacker followed the man who spotted him to his home near Christian Village and shot him, leaving him for dead.

The first shooting victims were rushed to the Tema General Hospital. When they were being taken by police for an X-ray near the hospital.

On the way, police spotted the attacker and shone lights on him, prompting his escape, in which he dropped a sack, which was in a sack.

The attacker is believed to have been a pillion rider on a motorbike. The motor rider sped off in a different direction.

According to the police source, the motive of the suspects remains unknown, but it is believed to be targeting specific individuals.

Police foil planned robbery in Accra

The statement said that during the operation on Monday, July 15, 2025, the suspects detected police surveillance while en route to their target location in a Toyota Yaris vehicle.

They opened fire on the police team, shooting one officer and prompting the team to return fire.

As a result of the gun exchanges, two suspects were injured and later pronounced dead at the Police Hospital.

Police foil GH¢1.3 million gold robbery,

YEN.com.gh reported that police busted three suspects who had planned to rob a gold consignment valued at over GH¢1.3 million.

The suspects were identified as Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif and Kenneth Khartey.

Police said its Special Support Unit (SSU) commenced the operation on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, following indications that a gold dealer’s driver and a man posing as his bodyguard had conspired to rob a scheduled gold delivery the following day.
