Saviour Church Planning Mass Burial for 16 Youth Killed in Kumasi-Accra Highway Road Crash

The leadership of the Saviour Church of Ghana has begun arrangements for a mass burial for its members of the Church’s Youth Ministry who died in a road crash on the Atwedie stretch of the Kumasi-Accra highway.

Citi News reported that the death count from the crash currently stands at 16.

The Deputy Secretary of the Saviour Church of Ghana, Kwabena Owusu, said the persons injured in the crash are doing fine in the hospital.

Owusu also said the church planned to engage the families on the mass burial.

“Right now, four of the survivors are responding to treatment at the Juaso government hospital. I have been there personally, and they are responding to treatment.”
“We attended a youth programme at our national headquarters, and unfortunately, one of our vehicles was involved in a fatal accident. This caused the death of our members. We have arranged with the leadership of the church to liaise with the family to set up a date to have a mass burial for all of them."

Saviour Church pastor's 2 kids among the dead

Two of the Saviour Church of Ghana's head pastor's children were among the dead in the tragic road crash on July 28 that claimed 15 lives.

Adom News reported that a church elder, Kofi Baah said the group was returning from a youth event when the crash happened on the on the Juaso-Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The crash involved a collision between the vehicle carrying the church members and a fuel tanker.

Reports from eyewitnesses indicate that a tyre on the tanker burst, causing the vehicle to swerve off its lane and crash into the church members' vehicle.
