Daddy Lumba's children made a rare public appearance at a vigil held in his honour on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square. The solemn event brought together fans, fellow musicians, and industry stakeholders to celebrate the life and legacy of the late icon.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, after a brief illness. His death has sent shockwaves across the nation and the diaspora, with tributes pouring in from all corners of the world.
Clad in black, his children sat in the front row at the ceremony quietly among mourners, visibly emotional as the crowd sang some of Lumba’s timeless classics.

Daddy Lumba's kids thank Ghanaians
The late Daddy Lumba's children also mounted the stage at the vigil to thank Ghanaians and his fans on behalf of the family for their immense support during the candlelight vigil held in his honour.
"We want to thank all of you guys for supporting him (DaddyLumba) over the years. Without your support, he wouldn't be Daddy Lumba. Thank you for coming. We will love you, remember you guys. Thank you so much," one of the Makra Mo crooner's daughters said.
Daddy Lumba's son grabbed the mic afterwards and expressed his profound gratitude to all Ghanaians, saying,
"Yɛda moase bebree," he said continuously in Twi, meaning we thank you so much.
In public interviews undertaken at the grounds, many fans in attendance shared stories of how Daddy Lumba's music impacted their lives, holding candles and posters of the late star.
Since news of his passing broke, hundreds of people have visited Daddy Lumba’s East Legon residence to offer condolences to the family. From celebrities to ordinary fans, the outpouring of love has been overwhelming.
Daddy Lumba leaves behind a musical legacy spanning over three decades, with countless hits that defined generations of Ghanaian music lovers.

The event, organised by the creative arts community, took place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square to celebrate and mourn the iconic Ghanaian musician.
