A throwback photo of Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale, with Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, one of the Ghana Air Force personnel who perished in the recent helicopter crash at Adansi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, has resurfaced after the tragedy.

The moment has gone viral on social media, sparking emotional reactions online.
The throwback photo, reportedly taken at the Air Force Base during one of Shatta Wale's past visits, shows the late flying officer and the SM boss smiling for the camera in what is now a mixed feeling moment of memory.

It is believed that Flying Officer Twum Ampadu was one of the pilots who flew Shatta Wale during the visit of female American hip hop rapper Cardi B to Ghana way back in 2019.
At the time, the dancehall star was flown by a helicopter believed to have been arranged through the Ghana Air Force, news that made headlines due to this being relatively unheard of.
The crash, which occurred in the Ashanti Region near Adansi Asokwa, claimed the lives of eight persons aboard the Ghana Air Force helicopter en route to an event.
The incident has led the country into a state of mourning, with tributes pouring in from all angles.
While Shatta Wale has not officially reacted to the photo, fans online have posted about the tragedy.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has promised a full investigation into the cause of the crash, and the government of Ghana is expected to give the victims a full state burial on August 15, 2025.
Who is Flying Officer Twum Ampadu?
Flying Officer Twum Ampadu graduated in 2017 from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, with a Bachelor of Arts in Geography, where he was regarded for his analytical mind and commitment to service.

He is a proud personnel of the Takoradi Air Force Base, and his passing marks a heartbreaking loss for the Ghana Air Force and the nation.
Twum married three weeks ago in a plush wedding ceremony, which makes his abrupt passing even more painful to bear, spending just three weeks with your newly wedded wife and being deceased later is unimaginable
Obuasi crash claims lives of top officials
YEN.com.gh also reported that ministers Edward Omane Boamah and Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed perished in a military helicopter crash on August 6, 2025, en route to an anti-galamsey event in Obuasi.
Sammy Gyamfi was believed to have been initially scheduled to be on the flight but missed it due to other commitments. Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak was also pulled from the trip last minute by Dr Ato Forson.
