Some market women in Adum, Kumasi, have begun celebrating the legend by going around the market to collect contributions in order to organise a market-style funeral for Daddy Lumba.

The Asantes are known for taking funerals to another level, with how they personalise and organise them, even for ordinary people.

But this time, it’s for their very own Daddy Lumba, one of the biggest stars the region has ever produced.

Daddy Lumba is known for the impact of his lyrics; the average Ghanaian can relate to one or more of his songs.

In a video of the market women going around for donations, they are seen moving from shop to shop with a funeral poster of Daddy Lumba, while playing his popular song “Ahenfo Kyiniye” on a loudspeaker.

They want to organise a local funeral for the legend, amid rumours that he will receive a state burial.
