Veteran Ghanaian actress Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, garnered attention when she appeared at the home of legendary Ghanaian singer, Daddy Lumba.

Maame Dokono paid a visit to the late musician’s East Legon mansion on Thursday, July 30, 2025, to express her condolences on his passing to his family.
Her appearance generated a buzz on social media as Ghanaians praised her youthful look despite her age.
She looked stylish despite wearing black and red mourning clothes and looked fitter than people expected for a woman of her age.

The veteran actress met the singer’s widow before later signing the book of condolence.
Maame Dokono rose to fame in the 80s and 90s, appearing in the popular drama Obra.
She acted in several iconic Ghanaian movies, including Matters of the Heart and A Stab in the Dark.
Omaboe was also a television presenter, hosting popular shows such as By the Fireside and Ode ne Asomdwee.

Daddy Lumba dies after short illness
Maame Dokono's visit to Daddy Lumba's home occurred in the wake of the musician's tragic passing.
Daddy Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, reportedly fell ill at his home in the early hours of July 26.

He was rushed to the Bank Hospital, located at Cantonments in Accra, where he died.
Lumba's family announced his death in a statement shared via all his official social media handles.

"With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana's beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness." the statement said.
It concluded that Daddy Lumba was a musical icon who changed the country through his music.
"Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience," it added.
