The late highlife musician, Charles Kojo Fosu, also known as Daddy Lumba, when talking about how he became successful, always gave credit to two women who played a pivotal role in his life.

They are: Comfort Gyamfi, popularly known as Auntie Ama Esah, and Theresa Abebrese, also known as Nana Konadu.

Who is Daddy Lumba's mother, Ama Esah?

Ama Esah was the biological mother of Daddy Lumba. Daddy often made it known the sacrifices and support she gave him, which contributed greatly to his success.

In his song titled “Ama Esah,” Lumba sang about how her prayers and spiritual backing led to his survival when he suffered health issues, and how her influence helped in his achievements.

Ama Esah was married to Owoahene Kwadwo Fosu, from whom Charles took his middle name, Kojo Fosu.

Ama Esah died at the age of 55, on December 21, 2001, in Kumasi. The legendary musician honoured her in many of his songs, including tracks such as Ama Esah, Ohia Asem, Ɛmmere Pa Beba and Anidasoɔ Wɔ Hɔ Ma Obiara.

Daddy Lumba did not say much about his father.

After two and a half decades, Charles Kojo Fosu reunites with his mother in the next world.
