Ghanaian music producer David Kojo Kyei, widely known as Kaywa, has stated that Daddy Lumba was in the process of recording his 34th and final album before his passing on July 26, 2025.

In an interview with Starr FM, music producer Kaywa shared insights into Daddy Lumba's vision for the album, expressing that it was to be a timeless project.

This endeavour aimed to highlight his extensive achievements as an artist while providing a heartfelt legacy for his children and family as he contemplated retirement from his illustrious music career.

Kaywa recounted a poignant conversation from a month before Lumba’s death, during which the iconic musician expressed his desire to create this final masterpiece.

"Daddy Lumba felt that, having blessed Ghana with countless hit songs over the years, he now wanted to create something unique that his children could cherish."

This personal reflection fueled the urgency and intent behind the project.

To facilitate this creative process, Kaywa volunteered to work directly at Lumba's fully equipped home studio, recognising the importance of comfort and ease for the artist during this critical time.

Kaywa emphasised how this arrangement allowed for a more relaxed and conducive environment for the recording sessions.

The project saw Daddy Lumba stepping out of his traditional comfort zone, as he sought to experiment with diverse musical genres.

Kaywa stated that they explored an eclectic mix on the album, including root reggae, amapiano, Afrobeats, and his hallmark highlife sound.

"We recorded about seven songs, each distinct from the typical Lumba style; this was a conscious effort to reach a younger audience, particularly his own children," Kaywa shared.
