Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly called Daddy Lumba, has died.
The legendary highlife musician passed on Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.

A statement signed by the counsel of the Fosu family stated that it would share details of their funeral arrangements at the right time.
""With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana's beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness."
"Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience," it added.

Daddy Lumba's family asked for privacy as they mourned their loved one.
"During this time of immense loss, we respectfully request privacy for the family and loved ones as they navigate this profound grief. Details of the funeral arrangements will be shared in the coming days."
According to Graphiconline, Daddy Lumba died at the Bank Hospital in Accra. He was admitted to the hospital for an undisclosed illness and gave up the ghost on Saturday morning.
Tributes pour in for Daddy Lumba
Tributes have started pouring in from all over the world after news of Lumba's demise was confirmed by his lawyer.
Notable among the people who have paid tribute to the great icon are former President John Agyekum Kufour, former President Nana Akufo-Addo, and the current President, John Dramani Mahama.
Industry figures who have also eulogised the highlife legend include KOD, Kwabena Kwabena, Kidi, Stonebwoy, and Adofo, among others.

The Embassy, in a statement on Monday, July 28, 2025, praised Daddy Lumba’s remarkable contributions to music and culture, highlighting Germany's role in moulding Daddy Lumba’s successful career.
Candlelight vigil to honour
The Creative Arts Industry, in a show of solidarity, has decided to hold a candlelight vigil.
The Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency, who issued the statement in July, said the solemn event will take place at Independence Square in Accra on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
Similar events will then be held concurrently in Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, a Book of Condolence has been opened at Daddy Lumba's private residence at East Legon in Accra.

Dada KD passes away

The Highlife musician passed away in the evening on Friday, May 16, 2025.
The news of Dada KD's demise left many on social media sad, and several celebrities paid glowing tributes to their late colleague in the entertainment industry.
