Kofi Boakye Makes Rare Public Appearance at Atta Mills Wreath-Laying Ceremony

Former Chief of Police (COP) Rtd. Kofi Boakye courted attention during a rare public appearance at the Atta Mills wreath-laying ceremony held at the Asomdwee Park in Accra.

Kofi Boakye arrived at the event looking young, fit, and handsome, sparking reactions of amazement from Ghanaians on social media.

A wreath-laying memorial was held in honour of late Ghanaian President Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The date marked the 13th anniversary of his death, which occurred in 2012.

President Mills, who was battling throat cancer at the time, fell ill at work and was rushed to the hospital, where he passed away.

The ceremony is held annually to honour the memory of the late leader, who served as President of Ghana from January 7, 2009, till his death on July 24, 2012.

President John Dramani Mahama, who was Vice-President when Mills died and succeeded him, was one of numerous top officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who were at the ceremony.

Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and others appeared alongside the Mills family to honour the late leader.

The event came two days after the 13th annual Professor Mills memorial lecture was held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

COP (Rtd) Kofi Boakye, who is the current Director of Security Operations at the Presidency, turned heads when he showed up at the event.

He was dressed in black from head to toe and was busy making a call in trending online footage.

COP Boakye’s look was complemented by dark sunglasses.

His appearance left many Ghanaians marvelling as they expected him to have aged much more than he looked.

Kofi Boakye's son graduates from training school

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that former COP Kofi Boakye's son graduated from the Kumasi Police Training School.

Kwaku Aduenin Boakye was among the 612 police recruits who graduated from the establishment on July 30, 2022.

He was adjudged as the Best Graduating cadet from the school and one of the nine best graduating cadets nationwide.
