The late musician, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

He passed away at the Bank Hospital in Cantonments, where he was sent after falling ill at his home in East Legon.

His family announced his death in a statement and said funeral announcements would be released at the right time.

"With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana's beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness." the statement said.

"Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience," it added.

Lumba’s death sparked a period of nationwide mourning, as many prominent personalities visited his home to mourn with his family.

His first wife, Akosua Serwaa, flew into Ghana from Germany with her kids to mourn.

Akosua Serwaa has since flown back to Germany to help with preparations for the singer’s funeral.

Akosua Serwaa goes shopping in Ghana

In a video seen by YEN.com.gh, Akosua Serwaa was spotted in the high-end luxury boutique owned by entrepreneur Amanda Agyapong.

Despite being decked in mourning clothes, she flashed a smile as she moved through Mandy’s Outlet shop.

The video of her happy moments warmed hearts online, as Ghanaians expressed joy to see her smiling.

Akosua Serwaa spent much of her time in Ghana in the company of Amanda, who is married to Kennedy Agyapong, a businessman and close friend of the late Daddy Lumba.

Daddy Lumba's children with his first wife were seen in Mandy's company at her house during another time they took a break from mourning.

Mandy also drove Akosua Serwaa to and from Lumba's East Legon house, where the condolence visits to the family were held, in her customised

Previously, YEN.com.gh reported that Daddy Lumba's wives denied claims of beefing over who has the title of the legitimate Mrs Fosu.

Lumba's manager, Roman Fada, stirred controversy online after the manner in which he introduced the two during a family event at the late singer's home.
