The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, visited the residence of Daddy Lumba on Thursday, July 31, 2025, following his demise.

In a series of videos seen by YEN.com.gh, the young politician wore a motorcycle gear as he arrived at the late musician's house on his expensive bike.
He was accompanied by his 5,000-man biking crew as he went to mourn with his family and loved ones.
Basintale received a rousing reception from bloggers, who gathered at the entrance of Daddy Lumba's residence to catch a glimpse of him and other visitors.

The YEA boss exchanged pleasantries with the musician's manager, Roman Fada, before entering the house to commiserate with the bereaved family and sign the late musician's book of condolences.
Malik Basintale recounts past with Daddy Lumba
During his interaction with Daddy Lumba's family inside his residence at East Legon, Malik Basintale recounted his first public encounter with the musician.
According to him, he first met the late musician when he and other prominent NPP figures, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor, visited Tamale for a campaign rally in 2007.
He noted that he had always dreamt of becoming a police dispatch rider at a young age and decided to leave home to catch a glimpse of the former president's motorcade after he visited the palace of the then King of Dagbon.
Malik Basintale stated that he later went to the Tamale Jubilee Park, where Daddy Lumba and his crew arrived to perform the campaign song he composed for former president Nana Akufo-Addo before the 2008 general elections.

The YEA boss noted that Daddy Lumba later approached him and questioned why he was at the rally despite not being of voting age.
He said the late musician put him on top of a police motorbike after he shared his dream of becoming a police dispatch rider. He also shared that he and the music icon exchanged phone numbers after they had a lengthy interaction.
Malik Basintale said he regularly kept in touch with Daddy Lumba until he lost his mobile phone in 2011. He also eulogised the late music icon for his impact on various Ghanaian societies with his music.
Daddy Lumba's demise and fallout
The highlife music icon, widely acclaimed as the greatest artiste in Ghanaian music history, sadly passed away at 60 at the Bank Hospital at Cantonments in Accra after a brief illness on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
His family announced his death in an official press statement after speculation on social media. His demise evoked sadness among many Ghanaians, including prominent figures who eulogised him on social media.
As part of the memorial arrangements, the musician's family also opened a Book of Condolence at the private residence for the guests.
In recent days, prominent personalities, including businessman Kennedy Agyapong, Kwabena Kwabena, Kojo Antwi, Becca, Obuoba J.A. Adofo, Rex Omar, Kwame A-Plus, John Dumelo, Dr Osei Kwame Despite and many others have visited Daddy Lumba's home to mourn with his family and loved ones.
A national candlelight vigil in honour of the late music icon will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 6 pm at Independence Square in Accra.
